Our Mission

We are on a mission to co-create a peaceful planet by empowering kids with mindfulness and compassion.

We offer mindfulness lessons to kids at their school sites, during and after-school as well as yoga & mindfulness camps.

Our programs effectively guide students to regulate their emotions, cultivate compassion for challenges, and focus their attention.

Our teachers are trained by Mindful Schools and utilize their research-based curriculum.

Our Story

Hi! I’m Betsy, founder of Happy Kids Movement! As an elementary school educator in San Diego for twenty-two years, I’ve helped hundreds of students from diverse backgrounds learn how to navigate challenges, develop resilience, and shine with mindfulness tools.

Funny how it can be so easy to help others and much more difficult to help ourselves at times.

Even though I was setting my students up for success each year, the demands were insurmountable and I kept making the mistake of sacrificing myself.

How could I keep myself and my own nervous system regulated while still honouring my soul’s calling to teach students in a way that everyone wins and no one is compromised?

I listened to my gut. I took a deep dive into mindfulness and self-compassion, and began implementing these new lessons with students.

Since 2018, Happy Kids Movement has been bringing mindfulness programs and camps to kids with tremendous success.

Offering heart-centered quality courses with teachers who are mindfulness practitioners has been the key to our students flourishing during a pretty crazy time on the planet.

Happy Kids Movement has more requests for our programs each year. We are committed to meeting this need! Are you ready to support this cause?

Please join us on our journey to help co-create a harmonious planet for everyone!

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is

Paying attention

on purpose

to what is happening

right NOW

without judgment

of good

or bad.

Freedom to fly

This seemingly simple practice opens up a space for us between stimulus and response in which we can enjoy the freedom to choose our responses in any situation.

Simply by honing in on our ability to notice what is happening within us and around us, we cultivate the skills to create more harmonious relationships with ourselves and all others in our environment.

  • Focused awareness

  • Regulated emotions

  • Self-knowledge

  • Increased executive functioning

  • The power to soar
